Art in Public

As an artist team, I work with the stone sculptor Martin Kuhn and this collaboration offers an interesting challenge in the field of three-dimensional art. For many years our work has been linked to concept and sculpture and we take part in various competitions and commissions for art in public spaces.Our artistic concepts are always motivated by the idea of connecting sculpture in dialogue with the environment and thus stimulating an examination of a topic. Our art aims to be functional and invite to touch, experience, reflect and remember. We are interested in marking, defining and integrating places with our sculptural art projects.

Our workshops are directly adjacent to a quarry where the Norwegian national stone “Larvikite” is mined. Following the process from violent blasting in the quarry to industrial processing gives us artistic inspiration. Through collaboration between artists and the stone industry, new forms of expression and content can be realized. This dynamic makes it possible to bring all large stone formats into a new context. The theme of “nature and technology” dominates and provides new inspiration.

Stone has a monumental character, and it is always an exciting challenge to integrate sculptures into a social environment, into architecture or into the landscape. Our goal is to present art objects that, in combination with natural elements such as water, light, warmth, sound or alternative energies, reflect today's thinking - and convey an atmosphere. We are impressed by the dimensions of the stone, even when combined and used with other materials. Stone as a sculptural dimension means memory, reflection, but also activity, inspiration and recognition. It's about defining a new space, making artistic statements, but always maintaining respect for the materials used and their natural origin. Sculpture as a timeless companion remains as a witness to time and speaks all languages. Our challenge as an artist team is always communication and agreement on an ever-changing artistic process, including in exchange with our customers, architects, locals or those interested in art. Every project always means inspiration for a new path.
